Michael Jing was born in Singapore. Throughout the first three and a half years of his life, he lived in Singapore for around six months, and in Dalian, China for the remaining three years or so. At the age of three and a half, Michael moved with his mother to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where Michael's father was already living.

Michael and his parents moved from Toronto to Markham, Ontario when he was around five and a half years old. Michael grew up in Markham, where he lived until he went off to study at the University of Toronto. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science (H.B.Sc.) degree in Life Sciences from the University of Toronto in June 2021.

In September 2022, Michael began studying in the Paralegal (Graduate Certificate) program at Centennial College in Scarborough, Ontario. He graduated from the Paralegal program in December 2023, wrote the P1 (Paralegal) Licensing Examination of the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) in February 2024, and obtained his P1 Licence in June 2024.

​Michael is fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking) and has intermediate proficiency in Chinese Mandarin (speaking).
